Sir John Barrow Monument/Hoad Hill
-Built in 1850 by public subscription as a memorial to Sir John Barrow. It was modelled on the earlier Eddystone lighthouse, and provides the finest 360 degree panorama of the Lake District Mountains and Morecambe Bay.
Access to the top available via a series of footpaths (there is no access for cars), the main one through Ford Park. Details of these can be found in the leaflet “Historic Walks around Ulverston and Ulverston Town Trail” available from the TIC.

Ulverston Brewery
After Ulverston's last remaining brewery, 'Hartleys' closed, Paul and Anita decided to start brewing in their garage to provide friends with a real ale alternative to the dull beers of the giant breweries. Demand grew and grew and finally they decided to take the plunge into full-time brewing opening Ulverston Brewery on 10:10:10 with a party attended by friends, family, customers and local dignitaries.

Laurel and Hardy Museum
The world famous Laurel and Hardy Museum devoted to Stan and Olly in Ulverston, Cumbria the birthplace of Stan Laurel. The Museum started life as one man's collection stemming from his lifelong love of 'the boys'. Starting out as a few scrapbooks of photos, the collection grew over time until it filled one small room with pictures covering all the walls and even the ceiling, now the vast collection along with a cinema room can be found at the Roxy Cinema in Ulverston.

Conishead Priory and Buddhist Temple
Originally an Augustinian Priory which cared for travellers crossing Morecambe Bay via Chapel Island rebuilt by Colonel Braddyll in the 19th Century. Now a Buddhist Centre and Retreat with extensive grounds and pleasant café.
Opens: Grounds all day. Temple and Shop weekends and bank holidays 12:00 to 17:00 Weekdays 14:00-17:00. Café and Guided Tours: 1st March-12th December. Closed during Buddhist Festivals

Swarthmoor Hall
Swarthmoor Hall is a historic hall and is recognised as the birth place of Quakerism (Religious Society of Friends). Swarthmoor Hall was built about 1586 by George Fell, a local landowner. His son, Thomas, inherited the Hall and here in 1652 George Fox, the founder of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), gained the support and encouragement of Margaret, Thomas' wife.

Furness Abbey
Furness Abbey, or St. Mary of Furness is a former Cistercian monastery situated on the outskirts of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. The abbey dates back to 1123 and was once the second wealthiest and most powerful monasteries in the country, behind only Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire. It now lies in ruins and is a popular tourist attraction, lying on the Cistercian Way, (an ancient walk popular with tourists), which used to link the Abbey with the nearby town of Dalton-in-Furness.

South Lakes Wild Animal Park
South Lakes Wild Animal Park is a 17-acre (6.9 ha) zoo established in 1994 by David Gill, and located at Dalton-in-Furness.
The park is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) and bills itself as one of the best conservation zoos in the country.

Piel Castle and Piel Island
The ancient “Pile of fouldray” built by the abbots of Furness to protect their trade across Morecambe Bay. It is a splendid ruin with a nearby curious pub where the kings of Piel are crowned with ale. Access is an exciting crossing in a small boat from Roa Island.

Walney
Walney provides the chance to explore three internationally renowned nature reserves and miles of unspoiled pebble beach. The Island has Neolithic axe factory at the north end, a lighthouse at the south end and the ancient settlements of North Scale and Biggar Village in between.

Within five miles are Aldingham, Baycliffe, Bardsea, Dendron*, Gleaston, Greenodd/Pennybridge, Pennington*, Scales, Great and Little Urswick*, all linked by an excellent network of footpaths.
